When it comes to bathroom designs, choosing toilet linen is key. It can make or break not just the overall appeal of your bath but also its usefulness.

Toilet linens are those towels – bath towels, hand towels, washcloths – and accessories like the mat, the bathrobe, and sometimes the curtain that are often seen inside the bathroom. In some homes, bed sets are also useful inside the bathroom. They usually land on the bathroom windows, if there are any.

Toilet Linen, Defined

Linen is basically woven fabric. There are many different ways of weaving fabric to produce cloth. In terms of bathroom linen, toweling is the most popular. Although other bathroom bedding like the mat may come from a different fabric, the basic ones are usually from the same towel-woven fabric.

The Materials

Due to its absorbency strength, towels, which are basic bathroom linen, are usually made of cotton materials. However, it is pointless to choose towels according to its softness. Some manufacturers use fabric softeners to promote that appeal. When choosing your towels according to quality, therefore, judging by the weight is even more helpful. Other times, toilet linens are made from a combination of different materials. You must be aware of that when you are shopping so as to be guided with your choice.

The Sizes

It is also important that you understand the many different sizes that towels come with. They define each towel’s function, basically.

Bath towels are the biggest. The standard size for which is about 22inches x 44 inches. Luxury sets may come in bigger size range, depending on the brand and the manufacturer. Next, there’s the hand towel, which may come in sizes between 16inches x 26 inches and 18inches x 32inches. The face towel usually comes in a standard size of 12 inches square. It is also known as the washcloth. Some bathrooms also stock fingertip towels, which is about 11inches x 18 inches in size. Fingertip towels are often placed in the powder room or by the sink and are mostly used when guests are expected to come over.

The other toilet linens like the bath mat or the shower mat, the bath sheets, and the bathrobes also come in many different sizes, to meet everyone’s need.

The Required Stock

Every bathroom must have a stock of at least two complete sets of towels for each person using it. This will allow a set to be available while the other set is being washed. The amount of stocks you can keep also depends on your storage space. If you have a huge bathroom linen cabinet, you can freely have as much toilet linens as it can handle. If you have very limited space, keeping the standard two sets is alright.
