High quality and attractive bathroom linen gives bathrooms a fresh ambience and look. They can also promote good hygiene. Before you buy linen, it’s a good idea to know some basic facts.

Types of Bath Linen

Towels are among the vital linens needed in the bathroom. There are numerous brands to choose from. They also come in different fabrics like microfiber cotton, bamboo, terry, Pima and Egyptian. Bath sheets are bigger than the average bath towel. These are often used when going on trips.

Bathrobes are available in many types. Usually they are constructed from cotton, lightweight polyester or other light materials. When shopping for bathrobes, look for those that are fully absorbent. Some also have pockets.

Kids’ poncho towels are very absorbent and can be used at the beach too. These are available in many colorful styles. Many have cartoon character designs.

Bathroom Rugs and Mats

When looking for attractive bathroom linen, make sure they have a rubber back and are nonslip. Good alternatives to cloth mats are rubber bath mats. It’s also a good idea to buy dark colored mats as dirt will be less conspicuous. If your interior design requires light colored linen, be prepared to clean them on a regular basis.

Towel Weight

The weight will hinge on how much fabric is used to make the linen. These are measured in GSM (grams per square meter). The GSM determines the density of the material. The heavier the GSM, the more absorbent it will be. For this reason, linens with high GSM are considered more attractive.

Towel Sizes

Some face towels measure 33 x 33 cm. These are used for drying the face or the hands. Some hand towels measure 55 x 100 cm. Towels in this size range are used exclusively for drying the hands. The do-it-all bath towels measure 70 x 130 cm. The bath sheets mentioned earlier can measure 100 x 150 cm, although there are larger sizes available.

Caring for Towels

Obey the cleaning instructions as indicated on the label. Don’t use very hot or cold water for cleaning. Ironing cotton towels is also not advisable because it reduces their absorbency. To keep the towels soft, use only 50% of the recommended detergent on the product package.

Having attractive bathroom linen adds style and functionality to your bathroom. While you want the linen to be functional, the different styles available mean you don’t have to sacrifice style.
